Shaun Crawford is a South African composer of film music and symphonic works. His influences range from late romantic and modern composers, to the rich scores of the Hollywood tradition and beyond. He is steadily growing in demand as a composer, orchestrator and arranger and has achieved local acclaim for his concert music.

ASCAP TV & Film Scoring Workshop

This Summer, I was off to Los Angeles for 4 weeks to attend the ASCAP TV & Film Scoring Workshop with Richard Bellis. It was a phenomenal experience as I was amongst a select group of 12 participants accepted into the program and had the opportunity to meet the best in the business, and have my score recorded by the incredible Hollywood Studio Orchestra at the Newman Scoring Stage on the Fox lot. Recently I finished orchestrating and recording the score to an exciting new animated short film using the fabulous Budapest Art Orchestra. No matter how many times I record with an orchestra, I’m always staggered at the quality and lushness a real orchestra brings to a film project. More details to follow.

Shaun was selected by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publisher’s (ASCAP) Composer Spotlight as one of 6 up and coming ‘Composers to Watch’ after his score was successfully received at New York University’s (NYU) Summer program in Scoring for Motion Picture.

Johnny Ray’s rock opera

Shaun is currently composing, orchestrating and arranging the score to composer Johnny Ray’s rock opera, Rockville 2069 into a 21-piece ensemble destined for London’s West End next year. Shaun is also involved in orchestrating and recording the music for the show’s album due to commence in February 2018.
